Meet your Relationship Counselor in Chicago

Finding a counselor in Chicago to help your relationship

Looking for a counselor in Chicago to help your relationship?

You know that something needs to change in your romantic relationship. You keep finding yourself in the same pattern that brings you pain. You want to understand it. You have endlessly scrolled through Instagram and YouTube looking for answers, but the amount of information available feels overwhelming. It almost becomes paralyzing.

You are ready to start therapy, but looking for a counselor in Chicago can feel just as overwhelming. You need a relationship counselor who can help you understand how you tend to relate in your romantic partnership and how the tension, anxiety, and fatigue you feel in your body could be connected to your emotions and thoughts about the relationship. You’ve read that the body can hold emotions and memories and wonder what experiences you may be carrying in yours.

Feel more secure in your romantic bond through relationship counseling in Chicago

I so get it. My name is Lisaura Lozada-Goode, and my curiosity and desire to understand why we do what we do brought me to the mental health field. We are wired for connection, created to build safe bonds and develop our sense of purpose and community.

Helping you understand what keeps you from feeling securely connected in your romantic relationship or marriage, and get to a place where new bonding moments can be created and nurtured, is why I went into private practice.

The gift of feeling securely bonded in our relationships I believe is God-given, and modern brain science backs it up. These are the lenses through which I view my work with you.

An embodied approach to relationship counseling can help you reconnect more fully

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Psychology in Puerto Rico, my passion for movement and dance led me to Chicago and the field of dance/movement therapy and counseling. A master’s level study about how our thoughts, emotions, physical bodies, creative expression, and relational interactions can be integrated, helping us connect to ourselves, each other, and our spirituality more fully.

Helping you create awareness and foster the connection between your mind, body, and spirituality is much of my style as a therapist and how I show up in everything that I offer at my practice. Collaborating with you to get you where you want to be is an opportunity I don’t take lightly, and you can expect to be treated with respect and honor.

I specialize in relationship counseling and help single, engaged, and married humans create long-lasting thriving relationships.

As a licensed clinical counselor, certified dance therapist, and trained partner dance instructor (yes, you read right!) in Chicago, I can help you understand and break relationship patterns that no longer serve you and create change by becoming more embodied.

I can also help you integrate your faith and culture into your wellness journey. If you are looking for Christian based counseling, or prefer therapy in Spanish, let me know! I’d be delighted to accommodate this service for you.

  • With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field I have worked in outpatient, inpatient, and residential treatment settings, and was in group practice before founding Drawing Closer Counseling and Wellness.

I've had the opportunity to present locally and out-of-state on topics related to dance/movement therapy (DMT) and experiential therapies in couples counseling, and in the treatment of co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse. I've enjoyed dancing for fun and professionally with training in styles like ballet, jazz, modern dance, and Puerto Rican folkloric dances amongst others.

In 2014, I completed a two year ballroom teaching training program with master teacher Tommye Giacchino. I love to dance and perform when able, and during my free time you may find me enjoying nature, watching a good show, or spending time with loved ones.

  • I love nature. I find it recuperative, restoring and beautiful. The flower in the logo is an orange Alstroemeria (“Peruvian or Tiger Lily”) which represents a strong bond as well as prosperity. It symbolizes loyalty, devotion, support and survival, and it may be shared as a gesture of moving through the ups and downs of life.
