You are tired of feeling insecure, dreadful, and anxious. You want to have a good relationship, but end up falling into the same hurtful one, often feeling misunderstood, rejected or alone. You ask yourself “how did I miss this again?”, “why do I keep opening myself up to people who are incapable of being there for me?”, “what’s wrong with me?” You find it so hard to get your feelings and your needs across and are not sure why. 

Feeling angry, irritated, and exhausted from having to constantly prove yourself in your relationships, at work, or to the world is way too familiar. You think that you “should work harder, do more, or know better”. When you feel like this it is hard to sleep and giving yourself to work sometimes helps, but it doesn’t feel balanced, not really. 

You long to feel confident and not second-guess yourself when you need to make a decision. It is so frustrating because you want to trust yourself more, listen to your gut, your intuition, but you feel disconnected. And at times you are not aware of how you are feeling physically until something aches or feels sore.

Movement and yoga have actually been helpful in the past. You have also tried mindfulness, journaling, anything to get rid of the anxiety, but now nothing seems to be clicking. You feel like your head and your heart are not talking. Sometimes you “know” in your head but not in your heart. At this point, you want to find someone who can help you connect with your intuition, with how to feel more confident in yourself.

My name is Lisaura, and as a dance therapist and licensed counselor, I can help you sync your head with your heart and gradually move from painful relationship cycles into more secure ones. I can help you build relationships that feel more balanced, where self-care is not compromised and you feel fully present and energized to engage in what you love. 

Dance therapy will feel different than traditional counseling or “talk” therapy

Working with me will feel different than traditional counseling or talk therapy. Together through dance therapy, we will explore how movement helps integrate the sensations you feel in your body with your emotions, thoughts, and the way you interact with yourself and others. By strengthening the relationship with your body and cultivating awareness of the mind-body connection, more light can also be shed on "red flags", illuminating your emotional needs and personal limits that were inside of you all along.

I will invite you to slow down and practice listening to and trusting your body cues so you can become more clear of when you need to pause, recuperate, or take action. You will feel more confident in making decisions and recognizing and communicating your needs will start to feel more embodied and integrated. 

Together we will create a safe space where you can engage in spontaneous and joyful movement to explore a fuller expression of yourself.
